95% of UGA graduates are employed or continue their education within 6 months
University of Georgia graduates are entering the workforce faster than most others. In fact, 95% of UGA graduates secure employment or continue their education within six months, a trend that has remained strong for 13 years. UGA’s six-month career placement rate far exceeds the National Association of Colleges and Employers’ national average of 55%. UGA degrees are not just a testament to an affordable quality education but are a gateway to successful careers.

From our faculty and staff to our alumni, it’s a true team effort to make sure students are not only ready to graduate but ready to take on the workforce afterward,” said Michelle Cook, Vice President for Student Affairs.
The class of 2024 entered the job market across a variety of sectors, including business (73%), education (18%), government (6%), and nonprofit (4%). Some of UGA’s top 25 employers include AT&T, Deloitte, The Home Depot, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Delta Air Lines.
The UGA experiential learning requirement and career prep resources have been instrumental in setting up graduates for success.
As part of UGA’s experiential learning initiative, students are required to engage in hands-on, real-world learning experiences that go beyond the classroom. These opportunities enhance students’ practical skills, making them more competitive in the job market.
The UGA Career Center also hosts thousands of career counseling sessions and delivers hundreds of presentations in classrooms each year to help students get job-ready. With the UGA Mentor Program, career fairs, industry-insider panels, and internships, the university offers many opportunities for students to gain real-world experience and make valuable connections in their industry. It’s a true team effort across campus. Dedicated faculty and alumni collaborate to make sure that UGA grads are well-connected to industry to launch their careers once they leave campus.
The key to success lies in the value UGA delivers to students during their education and the resources available across campus. UGA graduates carry an average student loan debt of $19,600—well below the national average. UGA students are not just landing jobs quickly, they’re doing it without being weighed down by significant debt. It has also fueled UGA’s 6-year graduation rate of 90%, which only nine of the nation’s top public universities can attest to.
