Delta Air Lines has invested in UGA, its people and its programs for more than 40 years.

Delta has supported the University of Georgia in making dreams take flight for 40 years, with more than $6.2 million in financial support provided by the company.

One of Delta’s most impactful investments at the University of Georgia can be seen in the heart of Washington D.C. In 2015, the Delta Air Lines Foundation committed $5 million to create Delta Hall, a living and learning community on Capitol Hill—the only facility of its kind in the Southeastern Conference. The 20,000-square-foot, three-story building houses 32 students, faculty and staff

“The Delta Air Lines Foundation is proud to support the University of Georgia as it expands its reach and provides educational tools and resources to its global student population. Through the new facility in Washington, D.C., we aim to increase exposure for UGA and create a place where students can prosper.”-  Tad Hutcheson | Vice President of Community Affairs | Delta Air Lines

Since the opening of Delta Hall, more than 250 students have utilized the residential space through the Washington Semester Program, the Honors in Washington Internship Program, and more. Delta Hall has greatly expanded UGA’s reach in D.C. by providing students with a residence hall while they intern and study in the nation’s capital.

“Delta Air Lines has been a strong corporate partner of the University of Georgia for many years, and this latest gift (Delta Hall in Washington, D.C.) demonstrates the leadership role Delta is taking in our ongoing comprehensive campaign to advance the University of Georgia.”

–  Jere W. Morehead | President | University of Georgia

Delta is actively involved in connecting with students on campus through on-campus interviews, guest speaking opportunities, and class projects. Students in the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication completed an advertising and campaigns project for Delta in Spring 2017, and Delta generously supported the Advertising and PR department with a gift that semester. This funding was dedicated to student enrichment programs, study abroad experiences, and domestic field study opportunities.

Delta has also become a strong partner in UGA’s College of Engineering through student co-op experiences and contracted faculty research opportunities. In addition, the Delta Visiting Chair for Global Understanding in the Willson Center for Humanities & Arts has brought renowned authors to campus. Delta is also consistently recognized as a Top 25 Employer for UGA graduates and encourages its UGA alumni to give back to the University through The Delta Air Lines Foundation’s matching gifts program.

Delta’s support of UGA in Athens and in Washington, D.C., is a win for both Delta and UGA. Delta Hall represents a permanent physical presence in the policymaking capital of the country, and students are benefitting from real-world experience with some of America’s most influential leaders. Delta is able to leverage the naming opportunity on campus with a recognition area in the Tate Student Center, in D.C. with the named facility, and in the media to educate the public about its goodwill efforts to support higher education.
